  • CHOICE is a pioneering provision for adults with Learning disabilities living in Cornwall.

Choice is an activity of the Elim Church in Camborne which subscribes to the belief that people with Learning Disabilities have the right to a locally-based, person-centred provision that will increase their choice and opportunities in all aspects of their daily life, including evenings and weekends. Feel free to phone 01209 714782 to discuss with our team

  • Connecting with
    the Individual

    • We will use simple planning tools to find out about a person’s character, skills, gifts and interests.
    • We will work in partnership with families and carers to assist people’s holistic development and support families in adjusting to the person’s increased autonomy.
    • The more that we know about someone, the better equipped we will be to empower them to plan and lead their own activities and projects, through person centred reviews.

    • Write things down with you and your family or carer, to help us know more about how we can support you.

  • Connecting to
    the Community

    • We have compiled a community map, identifying organisations and focal points within the local area.
    • We are aware of the less visible aspects of community life, the informal gatherings and shared interest groups and have support staff who know and care about their communinity.
    • These are vital links in establishing a bridge where people with a learning disability can cross over into, and become part of, regular community life.
    • The aim here is to introduce the connection and then do as little as possible, but as much as needed.
    • The relationship is between the person and their community not between CHOICE and the community.
